Mainstream manufacturers and competition pattern of fiber laser

IPG: founded in 1990, headquartered in Massachusetts, USA, is the world’s largest manufacturer of fiber laser products, including pulse lasers (PICOSECOND & FEMTOSECOND LASERS, nanosecond lasers) , quasi-continuous-wave lasers and continuous-wave lasers. In 2018, IPG photon posted revenue of $1.4599 billion in 2018, up 4 percent year on year, and net income of $404 million, up 16 percent year on year.

NLIGHT: founded in 2000 and headquartered in the United States, nLIGHT specializes in semi-conductor laser and fiber optic solutions. For fiscal 2018, revenue was $191.4 million, up 38.1 percent year on year, and net income was $30.156 million, up 658.7 percent year on year, with a gross margin of 35.0 percent.

COHERENT: founded in 1996, headquartered in the United States. For nearly a decade, custom fiber components have been designed and mass-produced. For Fiscal Year 2018, the company reported revenue of $1.903 billion, up 9.42 percent from the same period a year earlier; gross profit of $831 million, up 9.68 percent; and gross margin of 43.66 percent.

TRUMPF: founded in 1923 and based in Germany. Entered the laser field in 1979. After the 1990s, to the laser industry chain upstream of the introduction of disc lasers, semi-conductor Laser, fiber lasers. Revenue of 3.6 billion euros ($4.05 billion) rose 14.6 percent in the 2018 fiscal year. German sales of more than 700m euros.

SPI: founded in the UK in 2000, it focuses on design and fabrication of fiber lasers. In 2008 it was bought by TRUMPF, Germany’s leading laser-cutting machine maker. In 2015, SPI successfully acquired J K Lasers, which has 40 years’ experience in the laser industry, focusing on the fiber laser market. Fiber lasers accounted for more than 50 percent of the $11.33 billion in industry revenue in 2017.

JPT: founded in 2006, headquartered in Shenzhen, is a research and development, production and sales of laser light sources, laser intelligent equipment and optical fiber components of the state-level high-tech enterprises. In the first half of this year, Jett realized an operating income of 302 million yuan, down 9.41 percent year-on-year. Laser business achieved revenue of 152 million yuan.

FLYBO LASER: founded in 2012, is a FIBER LASER R & D Company, FOCUSING ON FIBER LASER R & D, has launched high-power continuous-wave Fiber Laser, high-power pulsed fiber laser and picosecond pulse solid-state laser and other products. In 2018 Feibo laser achieved annual revenue of about 200 million, industrial product sales growth of more than 80% .
